The art of Acupuncture has existed for many thousands of years. Acupuncture is a style of medicine which uses the concept of a map of pathways in the body called meridians. The meridian network is akin to the network of blood vessels or the nervous system. Within these pathways, energy, or Qi, flows. Acupuncturists access specific points along the meridians using needles to effect positive change.
Please look at the WHO website for information about trails and efficacy for the use of acupuncture.
There are two main styles of acupuncture. Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Five Element Acupuncture. I studied Acupuncture at the College of Integrated Medicine in Reading and, as the name suggests, I learned to integrate both styles of acupuncture in treatment planning and practice. I now practice a style of acupuncture which combines both the Five Element and the TCM approach. I have a thriving practice in Bristol and also now practice in Bourne End, Bucks. I am a member of the British Acupuncture Council.
Many are turning towards alternitive approaches to healing alongside conventional medicine and acupuncture is becoming increasingly popular.
During an acupuncture session the practitioner will evaluate, during a case history, where the imbalances are from a Chinese medical perspective. They will engender positive change or rebalancing, by using appropriate acupuncture points. Clients seek my help for many diverse conditions.
I have worked with many families over the years and watched many preconception sparks grow into beautiful young beings. I also practice acupuncture to aid fertility (male and female), including prior to and during IVF programmes, during pregnancy, childbirth and beyond. I also treat children.
I am a member of the British Acupuncture Council.
